With many of us still having to work from home during lockdown it’s very easy for us to feel distant and not as productive within our teams or departments. A webinar which takes place tomorrow hosted by ASIS will cover professional competency in security teams. The team at QCS thought it would be great to shine the light on some team building initiatives you all can use whilst in lockdown to maintain the team spirit you would have within your work environment.
Mini conferences/meetings
Make the most of Zoom, Google Hangouts and Microsoft Teams during lockdown. Voice notes and group chats are a thing of the past. Using video conference platforms are perhaps the closest thing right now to a face to face meeting you’ll get with colleagues and managers. If working from home these platforms are great catchups, one-to-ones and group presentations.
Virtual games
Working from home doesn’t necessarily require you to work every minute of the day. Using the screen constantly without breaks will cause eye strain, so please make sure you are taking intervals in between screen times. Virtual games are a way to help the work day go slightly fast, you can get some ideas here. It might not be the same as the workplace banter, but it can provide entertainment particularly amongst competitive colleagues.
Virtual lunches
We know lunch breaks normally help you take a breather from work-related tasks, usually eating with colleagues we’re able to catch up on a personal level. Regardless of lockdown we can still do this! Organising a lunch or picnic theme, sharing snaps of food dishes, making the same meal recipes are all ways of staying connected with colleagues with distance. We know it won’t be the same face to face, but the team efforts will help retain the connection many of you have with colleagues.
Lockdown has certainly made a lot of changes to the way in which various companies operate. Many employers are considering the online platform especially if we are set to experience a second lockdown. Make the most of the resources and platforms we have that gives virtual work a little more life.
