COVID-19, Coronavirus, global pandemic... it's important to stay vigilant especially if you are one of the many #securityheroes out on the frontline.
Many of you will have heard the news about our PM Boris experiencing symptoms of coronavirus and being taken into hospital for intensive care.
As a lot of you reading this are still having to commute and work within shared open spaces, the team here at QCS thought it would be ideal to share some health and safety tips to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Wear PPE
Shops and services are now making sure employees are wearing gloves and masks to minimise physical contact. This is usually provided by managers but if you would like to purchase a set, there are disposable gloves available at homeware stores such as Wilkinson, Savers and B&M. Alternatively you can order gloves and masks from Amazon, Ebay and Wowcher. If you have disposable PPE, make sure this is binned after every shift, don’t reuse!
Single Hand tissues
Need to sneeze or cough? We cannot stress this enough but please use a tissue. That way, you won’t pass it onto individuals. Make sure to dispose the tissue once used! If you can’t get a tissue, use the sleeve method. We’ve seen too many people in public coughing and sneezing with mouths open, please don’t be like them.
Alcohol based Hand Gel
This is also something workplaces have installed, make sure you use it upon entering and leaving the workplace and use it as often as you can during your shifts! Many outlets are now sold out of anti-bacterial hand gel, but online platforms such as Ebay, Groupon, Amazon and Wowcher do have offers on multipacks. It’s long-lasting and can be used on the go.
Healthy eating/ Drinking
Regardless of the lockdown situation, make sure you’re eating and drinking properly. With the weather and being on your feet, make sure you’re drinking a lot of fluids and water to help with circulation and clearing out toxins. Keep yourself energised by eating fruit and vegetables, try and avoid ready meals and greasy foods which will make you even more thirsty and tired during shifts.
And finally...
Breathe
During your time off try and make sure you’re getting plenty of rest, use the garden or local park to work out, spring clean, clean out your car, learn a new skill, use our site to access training courses, Alison.com also has a load of courses you can access. We know British weather is usually dull but make the most of this sunshine!
We hope these pointers have been helpful for you guys, we know currently your work is crucial and important to keep things running. But don’t risk your health. Stay safe.
