Lockdown is set to continue for another 3 weeks until 28th May. However, many of you may have heard from a range of sources about the ease of lockdown measures. PM Boris Johnson is planning to implement some changes to lockdown from next week onwards. On Sunday 10th May at 7pm, the PM will deliver a strategy which focuses on taking the next steps to ease lockdown particularly with employment, school and social gatherings.

Cancellation of Festivals and Carnival

This week saw the announcement of the Notting Hill Carnival being cancelled due to Covid-19. Alongside this, music festivals such as Wireless, Reading and Glastonbury have all announced cancellations to events this year. Many event officials have confirmed dates for 2021.

Security Webinar with ASIS Certification

On Thursday 14th May, a webinar which is free and accessible to all will be taking place which looks at ways to improve competency of security teams within corporations and businesses. Further information about the webinar can be found here.

COVID-19- Virtual Modules for SIA

Since lockdown, the security sector has looked at alternative methods with regards to training individuals who are applying for licences and accreditation. A pilot study which took place in recent weeks, saw individuals from Mitie Security take part. The review of the pilot can be read here, with lockdown and social distancing measures continuing into May, security contractors will be looking to encourage more people to complete virtual training and attain accreditation through online platforms.

We hope that you are all managing to absorb the sun rays from the beautiful weather we’re set to have in the next week. As always stay safe and only go out if necessary.
