Door supervisors are security personnel who mainly work at licensed premises, for example, bars, pubs, nightclubs, hotels, restaurants and large events. The main role of a door supervisor is to maintain a safe environment so customers enjoy their experience at that venue. Attending and passing the Door Supervisors courses means that you have the minimum knowledge and understanding to start work as a door supervisor. Door supervisors must be licensed by the regulatory body for the UK security industry the Security Industry Authority (SIA).
Many people make the wrong assumption that a door supervisor’s qualification /licence only mean’s working on a door at a pub or club. Not at all…
With this qualification you could work at festivals or events patrolling or in a response team or carrying out person searches and bag searches or carry out security guard duties, it`s also a recognised minimum qualification required to enable you to then train as a dog handler.
The conflict management section of the course is a great help in recognising and dealing with a conflict situation at work or in your personal life.
Understanding the law and use of minimum force is also a great confidence builder in all areas of our lives.

Why do I need this qualification?
The SIA now states that
Only door supervisors with older pre-June 2010 qualifications will need to take the new award, as the content is included in the newer post-June 2010 qualification. Since June 2010, a stand-alone physical intervention unit has been available for door supervisors with the older qualifications if they wished to undertake this element. Any door supervisor with the older qualification that have already undertaken the additional physical intervention training will not need to repeat this, but will need to complete the self-study workbook and have it signed by a tutor. our 2 days course includes the recent changes brought in by the SIA as of 1st january 2015 with more in depth learner outcomes.
Any individual who currently holds a door supervisor licence but does not carry out licensable activities in this sector can, after 4 February 2013, on renewal of their licence obtain instead a security guarding licence and will not have to take the additional training. This can be done by an individual stating on the renewal form that they are applying for a Security Guarding licence.
